Kia ora and welcome 👋 I’m Dr Michelle Pokorny, a research audiologist and Advanced Audiology Practitioner based in Te Whatu Ora – Counties Manukau, NEW ZEALAND.

I’m passionate about making ear and hearing care simpler to access, faster to navigate, and kinder for whānau/families — especially for tamariki/children with middle ear disease. My work sits at the intersection of advanced scopes of practice, outpatient service redesign, hearing and middle ear screening, and digital innovation (including AI).

Over the last 8 years I’ve built a research programme that’s grounded in real-world clinical problems. I’m grateful to be supported by an HRC Clinical Practitioner Research Fellowship (2024–2029), which lets me keep one foot in clinic while building evidence that can genuinely shift systems.

I believe that Allied Health and especially Audiology has a lot to offer beyond the traditional testing and managing hearing and vestibular differences.

Have a look around — I have created this space to encourage like-minded audiologists to share projects, tools, and ideas that we can all learn and benefit from.
