About the event
This module reviews common paediatric tonsil presentations, including tonsillitis patterns (frequency, severity and functional impact such as school absence and dehydration) and the sleep-disordered breathing phenotype (snoring, witnessed apnoeas, restless sleep, daytime behavioural change and growth concerns). It outlines risk-based indications for ENT review (aligned with local criteria), highlights key complication red flags (e.g., peritonsillar
abscess and airway compromise), and supports treatment selection across conservative, medical and surgical options. Content includes tonsillectomy techniques, prognostic factors, expected outcomes and timeframes, and post-operative precautions and limitations.
